
The Starbreakers Special Olympics club enjoyed a night of celebration as they joined forces with the Omagh Special Olympics club at the council offices in Omagh on Wednesday the 23rd of September. Council chairman Pat McGowan welcomed the athletes and family members to the chamber and spoke highly of their achievements at the Ulster Regional Games, he also added his views on the special olympics massive strides in Ireland and locally over the past number of years.

Afterwards there was refreshments and many photo opportunities. The Club would like to thank the Omagh District council for this civic reception which showed an appreciation for all the hard work and effort put in by the athletes of each club.

Special Olympics Ulster representitive Emma McMenamin was on hand to congratulate the athletes and wish them well in the future, her sentiments echoed by Rosemary from the Omagh club and Athlete Francis Meenagh read a piece he had prep
ared earlier which was warmly recieved. Carrickmore SO club coach Paul Sweeney said although special olympics had achieved alot in the past he believed that the current group of athletes, coaches, volunters, carers and family members had alot to give in the future. Councillor Rainey also gave his best wishes to all the athletes attending.
